I would always see giving customers incentive is a good and acceptable business strategy. Without giving incentives like discount, the business will get a few percentage to succeed. Competition is tough especially in this time of economic downturn. Most, if not all businessmen, are considering inventory of stocks to take a speed in moving out the warehouse which lead them to give discounts and cool offers that will attract a good number of customer.

If we try to look at it way back when the economy is still doing fine, businesses are still giving incentives to win competition. Thus I will conclude that incentives is now a language which is needed in order to survive the competition and earn market share.

What Kohls is doing is extending credit at a time when most are restricting credit.
Its important to think outside the box.

PR meaning creating buzz about your company. @khalid thanks for the insight, sometimes creating incentives isn't only about giving your customer's a break. You can kill two birds with one stone by relieving the customer and doing something extra to promote your company as well.
