Stuck

I ran into more problems than I had anticipated. Although I have flown out to our client’s location; a lot of my work is done virtually. The company that we are working with is not used to virtual communication and collaboration. This is going to put a bit of damper on my progress.

Right now, I have completed the analysis of the target market and these are my thoughts:

  1. The company is B2B and customers and their clients tend to be extremely methodical and competitive with their decisions.
  2. Their previous “larger” clients had signed up with their service because of previous relationships with the personnel of the company.
  3. The majority of the decision makers are males ages ranging from 45 – 55 that have an extremely high position with the company (either CEO, VP, or High Department Head of some sort, usually sales).
  4. The overwhelming benefit they see with our client’s company is their great customer service.
  5. Customers agree that an online presence will be useful and helpful for the company.

Now last week we had decided to implement the plan which consists of:

1. Starting the clients with a customized beginner Traffic Building package which for their purposes (because of the type of company they are); includes 5 SEO articles (3 -4 pages in length each), 1 whitepaper (15 pages) and 3 case studies at 2 pages each. Our consultants have prepared the 5 articles and are currently working closely with the team to complete the 3 case studies.

2. We are now working on the wire-framing of their site. After viewing the site we have evaluated that it is missing the following elements:

  • The entire page set-up is not enticing and does not draw the visitor to take any particular actions.
  • There is not a clear understanding of the site flow (from one page to the next). We are creating a site flow so that we can view how each page links to the next; and whether or not that will appeal to the various visitors.
  • The copy is poorly written and does not keep the client in mind. We are creating a client-centric site.
  • There are some pages that are unnecessary and may be omitted.
  • There are some necessary pages that need to be added.

So, the site at this time is still up with the old version still standing. We are anticipating that by mid June, the site in its entirety will be up. After that they want us to work on optimizing their landing pages; but we aren’t really think about that now ?. So the big question is; have you ever worked with a client that is not used to work virtually?
